SPEAKERS
Prof. Larry Kramer became President and Vice Chancellor of the London School of Economics and Political Science in April 2024. He previously served as President of the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation from 2012 to 2024. Under his leadership, the foundation significantly adapted its strategies to meet changing circumstances and seize new opportunities, including new efforts to respond to pressing and timely challenges related to democracy, economics, climate change, and racial justice.
Larry has spent most of his career in the academy, including as the 15th Dean of Stanford Law School, a position he assumed in 2004. During his tenure, he spearheaded significant educational reforms. He pioneered a new model of multidisciplinary legal studies, while growing the clinical education program, incorporating a public service ethos, and enlarging the physical campus.
Previously, Larry researched and taught at the University of Chicago, the University of Michigan, and New York University, where he served as Associate Dean for Research and Academics and Russell D. Niles Professor of Law. He clerked for U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Henry J. Friendly of the Second Circuit and U.S. Supreme Court Justice William J. Brennan Jr., following his education. Larry holds an A.B. in Psychology and Religious Studies from Brown University and a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School.
Larry is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a member of the American Philosophical Society. He serves as board chair of iCivics and has been a director on the boards of numerous nonprofit organizations, including the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, the ClimateWorks Foundation, the Independent Sector, and Equal Justice Works.
Sheryl Fofaria leads Social Impact and Philanthropy for UBS across Southeast Asia, including philanthropy advisory and execution services, as well as impact in the community. She has 18 years of experience spanning philanthropy and finance. Prior to joining UBS, Sheryl led J.P. Morgan’s Philanthropy Centre in Europe, the Middle East & Africa for 8 years – advising wealth management clients on using strategic philanthropy to tackle social and environmental issues. She has advised institutional asset managers and hedge funds on their cross-asset macro and Asian equity strategies at UBS Investment Bank in both London and Hong Kong. She also has grassroots experience running programmes for a social enterprise focused on diversity, inclusion and social mobility. Sheryl holds an undergraduate degree in Economics & Management from Cambridge University and postgraduate in International Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She is an advocate for innovative and entrepreneurial approaches to global development and passionate about learning from different cultures, having been born and brought up in Africa, educated in Europe, and travelled extensively through Africa, South America, Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
Frederick Teo is the CEO of GenZero. He oversees the strategic direction of the company to achieve both climate impact and sustainable long-term financial returns. Prior to his appointment at GenZero, Frederick held various leadership positions in Sustainability, Portfolio Management and Business Continuity Management in his 12 years at Temasek International. As Managing Director of Sustainable Solutions, he established the team and conceived capability programmes in clean energy, urban, and climate and nature solutions. He led key initiatives such as the establishment of Climate Impact X, a global marketplace and exchange for carbon credits, as well as Singapore’s first brownfield distributed district cooling retrofit project in partnership with SP Group. He also worked on value creation projects with some of Temasek’s large portfolio companies like SingTel and Mediacorp, and led corporate governance and stewardship initiatives within the Portfolio Management team. Frederick also took the lead in several community programmes. In 2014, he partnered Temasek Foundation to execute a nationwide delivery of mask kits during a severe haze episode and worked with ST Engineering on the development of the world’s first N95 masks specifically designed for young children.
Frederick is currently a member on the Advisory Panel of the Centre for Liveable Cities which was established by Singapore’s Ministry of National Development and Ministry of Sustainability and Environment to create and share knowledge on sustainable cities.
Frederick holds a MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics, and a BA and MA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Lincoln College, Oxford University.
(Moderator) Meeta Misra is a seasoned financial services professional with over 15 years experience within asset management, private markets and hedge funds across international markets, including Europe and Asia. As a specialist in impact investments and ESG advisory, she has a proven track record in developing and implementing successful ESG/impact strategies & products by leveraging expertise in finance, sustainability and business development. With in-depth knowledge of impact investing principles, ESG frameworks and sustainable finance, Meeta has a deep passion for driving positive social and environmental change through innovative financial solutions and embracing technology for good across sectors covering climate & environmental impact, financial inclusion, gender equality and green bonds.
Meeta is a CFA Charterholder and has an Economics degree from the London School of Economics.
